Brace yourself for this one…
“Loving yourself is easy, when you don’t have a to-do list”
When you don’t have to get up in the morning and hustle to work each day. When you don’t have a family to care for and a world to make better. When you don’t have to look like a goddess, act like a saint and live like a servant.
Putting yourself care on hold so that you can be, all that you can be.
For everyone else, but yourself.
The truth is, true self-love take more courage than most people will ever have.
And I should know.
Because I’m terrified of it.
When I first started my journey towards more self care, self love and self confidence….I used to roll my eyes as I read the carbon copy affirmations I had found online.
I mean, come on. Did they really work? Could I actually change? Would I ever actually love who I am?
But over the years, I realized that I wasn’t on the wrong path.
I had just started in the wrong place.
Forcing myself to love myself felt like a difficult uphill battle. Constantly trying to change my mind from “I can’t do this” to “I am worth loving”.
Over and over again.
But then I started to unravel the truth about who I was.
And I started to finally understand.
Before I could LOVE myself, I needed to DISCOVER myself first.
Not the person I was pretending to be.
…to get the job.
….to get the guy.
….to get the attention.
It all had to be set aside, so I could turn my attention inwards. On what lived within.
Here’s the thing.
Those people you care so much about? Those you keep trying to change yourself for? Those you keep putting yourself on hold for?
They waiting for you, to give THEM permission.
To be themselves.
As you keep shutting yourself down and patiently waiting for someday…
You are sharing with your daughter that being herself isn’t good enough.
You are showing your partner that you don’t trust them to love the real you.
You are teaching your students that you don’t believe in who they are.
Because when you refuse to appreciate in yourself. To honour yourself. To love yourself. To discover yourself.
You’re sending a message to everyone around you.
I’m not enough. You’re not enough. We’re not enough.
And it’s time to let that sh*t go.
Which is why this week on Liberated TV I’m sharing how you can stop putting yourself down so you can finally love yourself more.
But before you head over, I want to ask you verrrrry serious questions.
So don’t close your eyes just yet.
This moment right now, how does it feel?
- Are you comfortable with who you’ve become? Or do you feel stifled and stuck in a life that’s not your own?
- Have you made choices in 2017 that light you up? Or have you kept repeating the same old habits you always have?
- Do you live from of deep inner knowing and trust in yourself? Or do you find yourself giving your power away, every single day?
Here’s the thing my love.
I’m not here to tell you who you are. Only you can figure that out.
But that doesn’t mean that she isn’t waiting to be found.
And that self love you so desperately crave?
It’s not that far away. But it starts with coming back to yourself...and who you were always meant to be.
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” – Howard Washington Thurmanuo
I’ve spent years trying to be something I’m not.
…just as many years, watching the women around me do the same thing.
Starving themselves to fit in. Changing their beliefs to belong. Holding their tongue to not stand out.
But the women who set themselves free? They belong, everywhere. They love, everyone. They feel, everything.
Not because they don’t feel fear, but because they refuse to let it define them.
